Wellcome Snakebite Innovation Prize
Could your innovation help address one of the world's most neglected tropical diseases?
Snakebite envenoming causes more than 100,000 deaths each year and leaves hundreds of thousands of people with long-term disabilities. Many of these outcomes are preventable, yet barriers across the pathway from bite to effective care continue to delay treatment and worsen patient outcomes.
The Wellcome Snakebite Innovation Prize is a 4.5-year, £6.25 million global challenge funded by Wellcome and delivered by Challenge Works, seeking practical solutions that can improve outcomes for people affected by snakebite in high-burden settings.
Whether you work in digital health, diagnostics, logistics, emergency response, AI, transport, community health, supply chains, or other adjacent sectors, your expertise could help address critical challenges across the snakebite patient journey.
Applications are open across two tracks:
๐ Launch Track – for early-stage ideas and solutions developing a proof of concept.
๐ Growth Track – for mature solutions ready to be implemented, validated, and scaled.
Up to 15 finalist teams will receive funding and tailored support, while four winners will share a £5 million prize fund to accelerate implementation and scale.
